We held our fourth set of free 45 minute consultations at our SEO clinic on the last Friday of last month, once again at The Birch Hotel in Haywards Heath.
The three slots each month usually get booked up pretty quickly, sadly this time we had a drop out 24 hours before the event so only had the two consultees.
Lucie McAdams, owner of the food blog The Glow Within and photographer was first. After taking some time to explain about SEO and the most influential ranking factors, which this month included mention of RankBrain (Google’s machine learning artificial intelligence tech, which is now the third most important factor) we were able to provide some insight about the content on her site that is ranking particularly well. We also took time to explain about the Google Keyword Planner tool and the opportunities it can provide, particularly with reference to new content creation.
She was kind enough to add the review below to our Google page after the meeting.
Next to arrive for his 45 minute slot was Jonathan Vernon, digital editor of the Western Front Association website.
The main focus of this meeting was to discuss the opportunities a redesign of the site might provide, with particular attention paid to site architecture and the importance this has on user experience, in itself is a crucial ranking factor. We explored how key metrics in Google Analytics such as average session duration and bounce rate can be used to assess to success of any redesign, and how important setting up redirects after relaunch would be to ensure existing link ‘juice’ is retained.
