We are pleased to report that we delivered the first two Introduction to SEO workshops on Friday of last week at the Basepoint Business Centre in our home town of Haywards Heath.
Office Changes, the office design and refurbishment company, also based in Haywards Heath, were on first. Managing Director Marrek Fletcher and Marketing Assistant Chloe Standen provided some insight in advance on what they were looking to achieve in the session, which meant we could prepare appropriately.
We spent some time looking at the website data made available through their Google Analytics and Google Search Console accounts – and also ran a live crawl of their website content. We discussed changes to the site architecture as a whole and some urls to optimise for the searches they are targeting.
We also discussed their local SEO presence particularly with reference to their appearance on directories and how visible their address is to the search engines.
Second up was European Malt, who supply branded glassware and minikegs to breweries. Jayne Swann who oversees operations and was responsible for the recently launched website had attended an SEO clinic previously, so we focused the workshop on areas we hadn’t covered before. We spent a large part of the session discussing the various types of backlinks and how to earn them, as well as content and content amplification.
Lessons learned? Quite a few. For practical reasons we’ve built in a 15 minute gap between the two workshops to ensure a smoother transition for one to the other.
