On Friday I held an Introduction to SEO workshop at the Basepoint Business Centre in Haywards Heath. The workshop was prepared for Jonty Egginton to discuss his business, Egg Media, the video production company in East Grinstead. We offer two of these workshops a month, usually on the last Friday of the month.

Egg Media already rank quite well for geographic searches in the organic listings, so we discussed how to improve their presence in the local pack where they were not so prominent. We talked about the number of ‘near me’ searches rising which could partly be attributed to the increased number of searches taking place on mobile devices.
We spent some time talking about how to measure the successes of any SEO work that might result from this workshop. As well as tracking website usage and performance in Google Analytics and Google Search Console respectively, we talked specifically about setting up goals in the former to ensure conversions were being measured.
We covered some technical tasks too, where we provided some insight as to what was going on behind the scenes on their website, how Google and the other search engines crawl websites and decipher information from them. We spoke at length about keyword research and how to optimise content on the page after completing said research.
